Installation Procedure

JSK Industries | Installation Guide for FRP Manhole Covers
1 : Site & Frame Preparation
Debris Cleansing: Thoroughly clean the installation area. Remove all dust, loose materials, or contaminants from the site to ensure maximum sealant adhesion.
Dimensional Verification: Double-check the measurements of both the manhole opening and the FRP cover to guarantee a precise fit.
Structural Frame Inspection: Examine the existing manhole frame for any structural cracks or defects. Address any damages before proceeding.
Alignment & Leveling: Verify that the frame is perfectly level and properly aligned to prevent the cover from shifting or seating unevenly.
2 : Sealant Selection & Application
Material Compatibility: Always utilize a high-quality sealant specifically engineered for FRP composites to deliver superior bonding and long-term durability.
Specification Compliance: Review and follow the manufacturer's precise instructions regarding application temperatures and curing windows.
Uniform Bead Application: Apply an even, continuous bead of sealant along the contact lip of the manhole frame. This ensures a fully watertight, dependable seal once the cover is seated.
Volume Control: Avoid over-applying the sealant. Excessive amounts will squeeze out during compression, creating unnecessary cleanup and wasting material.
Instruction To Be Followed While Installing FRP Manhole Cover
STEP 1 : Ensure the top lip of the frame sits completely flush with the surrounding finished field surface.
STEP 2 : Pour and prepare a robust concrete foundation bed tailored precisely to the depth and height of the frame.
STEP 3 : Once the frame is anchored into the concrete bed, allow a minimum of 48 hours for the concrete to fully cure and set before subjecting the area to any traffic or use.
STEP 4 : Note that the frame itself is not engineered to bear vertical loads independently. It must be completely backfilled and structurally supported by concrete on all sides.
